December 1, 2011- Bed Time

Ok. Moment of truth has come to pass.
I went to bed last night and left the house a royal mess. Too tired to tidy up even a drop. Too tired to even take a pic. I need to get more sleep regularly so this doesn't happen again. But I KNOW the house will get in tip top shape by 3 pm today and will be clean at bedtime tonight.

Eek.

Embarassing.
But I need this to be my motivation.

(I snapped these pics first thing in the morning and didn't move a THING to be as honest as possible as to how it was before bed.)

No words necessary.

Aside from- "Well hey, I've seen the house get worse than this, and this will take less than 30 mins to clean up."

Lol does your house get this messy, less messy, or worse?

  1. Oh Penny, my house can get super messy and I don't have any kids. We both suffer from "I just got home from work/school/errands and I'm too tired to pick this up right now, I'll get to it later" syndrome. It's been getting a teeny bit better, partially because of the challenge but also because we want to be able to have friends over for once. Don't let this set you back though, the mess isn't that bad and although you have a lot on your plate getting this habit down will only make it easier for you in the future!

  2. I find that on days that I don't keep on top of it. I regret my moment of laziness because it makes me feel stressed and hurried the next day. I also do multiple loads of laundry daily and Monday is my worst day because I "take off" on Sundays.
I get that messy every Sunday !

  3. Na, totally not stressed out about the mess today, Dolly. Part of the reason for the mess is because I was cooking up a storm last night so I don't have to do it today, so I could focus more on cleaning.

Rodent, you DO have twice as many kids as I do...

  4. Mine gets way worse than that. I've been doing better since you started this new blog though. You've been my motivation to keep up on the cleaning.
We normally vacuum twice a week which is not nearly enough with a toddler that likes to "graze" and there is always laundry heaped on a chair waiting to be put away and stuff cluttering the counters as well as toys all over the floor.

The past couple days I've managed to get all of the dishes washed and put away, cleared off the counters, got all of the toys put away and swept the floor. It's so nice not having to look at clutter and it makes me feel like I accomplished something.

My husband has even been keeping up with his chores now that he can see that I'm putting in an effort and he now notices how much his messes stand out in a clean apartment so he deals with them!

Tonight I was bad though and didn't get the dishes washed. In my defense we were out today so dinner was late, baby bath was late and therefore her bedtime was late too. I didn't want to do the dishes and wake her up since she sleeps right next to the kitchen. I'll do them first thing in the morning!

  5. Erica, the problem with saying "A lot on my plate" is I've used that excuse forever! In our 5 years of being married, I've never NOT used that excuse.

  7. I also did a lot of cooking so I'm not too worried about missing the dishes. I made salmon patties for dinner so I did a batch of 36 of them, only 4 were eaten and the rest go in the freezer so that was one extra thing that I feel good about doing!

  8. WAY worse here sometimes! We have 5 kids (new one is 7 weeks old!) and homeschool so they're always around to mess it right up again. :)
